U.S. Manufacturing Industry Continues To Rebound

According to the Institute for Supply Management, the United States Manufacturing industry has continued to demonstrate growth for the fourth consecutive month. Although it didn’t grow quite as much as had been predicted at the end of last quarter, the growth is still a clear indicator that the industry is making a come back.

In fact, the number of available manufacturing jobs in the country has increased by about 600,000 jobs in the past four years. The problem that employers are finding now, however, isn’t that they don’t have enough work to go around, but that they don’t have enough qualified applicants for the open positions.

The Shipbuilding/Marine Trades and Advanced Manufacturing Institute (SAMI) at New England Institute of Technology works diligently with unemployed Rhode Islanders to provide them with the skills and training necessary to secure positions in the shipbuilding and manufacturing industries.
