This Dog Had 3D Printed Legs

The feats that 3D printing can accomplish keep getting greater, and more interesting.

Derby the dog was born with a leg deformity that – unfortunately – meant he couldn’t run. He was still mobile and active, but running simply wasn’t in the cards. The closest he could get was to be strapped into a wheelchair-like contraption that held his front legs aloft while his back legs did the work.

That is until Tara Anderson, a director at 3D Systems, heard Derby’s story and decided to help him. While acting as his foster parent, Tara developed a set of 3D printed prosthetic legs that allowed Derby to run for the first time in his life.
