The surge in orders and output in August marks the 15th consecutive month of growth for the industry, and the 63rd consecutive month of growth for the economy overall. Additionally, the manufacturing employment index grew in August – although employers are still facing the strain of finding qualified workers for open positions.

As the manufacturing industry continues to grow, finding qualified skilled workers for open positions is likely to become a paramount focus for employers, and essential to maintaining continued growth.

The Shipbuilding/Marine Trades and Advanced Manufacturing Institute (SAMI) at New England Institute of Technology is committed to helping bridge the skills gap by providing Rhode Island residents with the education and training they need to become top employee prospects in the manufacturing and shipbuilding industries.

If you’re interested in a career in a skilled trade, specifically in the manufacturing or shipbuilding sectors, then SAMI may be the right fit for you! SAMI is dedicated to working with unemployed Rhode Island residents to provide them with the training and assessments needed to make them desired applicants in the shipbuilding and manufacturing industries.
